i think the energy of the electromagnetic radiation is taken by the atoms or molecules in the sample for the promotion from the lower and high energy states. in the adsorption of radiation, we learn about adsorption spectrum. it is a plot of absorbance as a function of wavelenght or frequency. it is drawn as a curve. |
